Trying to find my HUMMINGBIRD living in this vulture world!!
Today's Make a Difference Monday is over Toxic Thoughts.
What is this you might ask??
Toxic - anything containing poisonous material capable of causing sickness or even death.
I am guilty of having toxic thoughts. Are you?
*Negative - "It is way to hot to get up this early to go to work."
*Fearful - always worrying if my Nanny is okay or not
*Discontented - "Lord, don't you know my timing is better!!"
*Critical - "Oh my gosh. What would possess her to wear that?"
Now, those are just a few examples - Lord knows that list could go on & on!
It's the thought that counts.
Literally!!! When we think negatively or with fear we are going to BE negative or fearful.
God tells us, "Carefully guard your thoughts because they are the source or true life." ~Proverbs 4:23
We must replace toxic thoughts with God's Truth.
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing, and perfect will." ~ Romans 12:2
Now what does that silly introduction mean?
Listen to this sweet analogy my pastor said at Church yesterday.
Hummingbirds & vultures are both birds that have very opposite characteristics. A hummingbird is quite small where a vulture is quite large. Each eat two completely different things. A hummingbird searches out sweet nectar while a vulture searches for dead things. Bottom line is both of those things, sweet & dead, are around them everyday. They each choose to eat on those things, to supply life to their bodies.
This is exactly how humans are. There are both positive and negative all around us. If you want to be negative, you can find something to be negative about. If you want to be positive, you can find something to be positive about. Therefore, find your hummingbird in this vulture world.
Together we can do it ~ I KNOW we can!
